‘Sublime Trolley’ Series

These photographic prints explore the quiet presence of trolleys found in situ in suburbia. These everyday objects, often overlooked, serve an essential role in assisting people through moments of need and routine. Yet, they are frequently taken for granted; abandoned, displaced, and eventually returned to serve again. Each photograph captures these trolleys at a fleeting moment before they often disappear overnight and are reinstated to their original purpose, dutifully readied for new hands to use.

Photographed on 35mm film, the images were printed in the darkroom before being digitally converted to colour. It is a process that renews the old through the new. The chosen colour palette draws from the sublime qualities of Romanticism paintings, transforming these utilitarian objects into objects of wonder and beauty. This series appreciates the unnoticed and mundane details of our shared environments.
